PRAN Dairy is one of Bangladesh's largest dairy companies and a subsidiary of the PRAN-RFL Group.
Through this partnership, ATEC will distribute biodigesters to PRAN’s network of over 4,000 listed farmers, with PRAN actively facilitating direct access and deployment across their supply chain.
ATEC’s biodigester converts farm waste into safe, clean biogas for daily cooking, while reducing wood use and methane emissions. The deployment of the biodigesters will allow smallholder farming households to recycle animal manure and convert them into clean biogas for cooking and high-quality organic fertiliser for their farms.
This MoU contributes to our ongoing project with Livelihoods Carbon Fund 3 (LCF3). The project aims at transforming energy access in rural Bangladesh with a focus on Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna and Rajshahi. A report on Socio-Economic and Demographic Survey 2023 published by the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), shows that 69.59% of households in rural areas use wood as a primary cooking fuel.
Together with Livelihoods, we will deploy 16,000 biodigesters to support households' transition from wood to biogas cooking. Households will gain access to a reliable and sustainable source of energy while reducing exposure to harmful indoor air pollution. The project will improve the lives of women and families, prevent deforestation, and avoid over 1 million tons of CO₂ equivalent emissions over 15 years.
The ATEC biodigesters are manufactured and distributed locally, creating local employment opportunities for over 1,000 Bangladeshis. To ensure accessibility, the project subsidises each biodigester by reducing the cost by approximately 50%.
