Hosted by the Bangladesh Brand Forum and Sustainable Brand Initiative under the 2026 Sustainability Summit in Bangladesh, the SDG brand champion in ‘SDG7: Affordable and Clean Energy' recognizes brands that have made significant contributions towards achieving affordable and clean energy, ensuring access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.
For the second year in a row, ATEC was recognised for its contribution to the SDG 7 category through the 'Waste to Wealth: Scaling Affordable Clean Cooking for Everyone' project.
In this project, ATEC in partnership with the Livelihoods Carbon Fund 3 (LCF3) aims to accelerate energy access in rural Bangladesh. The project will deploy 16,000 (SobujShakt) biodigesters across flood-exposed regions with a focus on Dhaka, Chittagong, Khulna and Rajshahi to improve the lives of women and families, prevent deforestation, and avoid over 1 million tons of CO₂ equivalent emissions over 15 years.
The ATEC biodigesters are manufactured and then distributed locally, creating local employment opportunities for over 1,000 Bangladeshis. These systems convert organic cattle manure into clean biogas for cooking. Built to withstand flood-prone environments and requiring minimal maintenance, the units are designed for long-term, rural resilience.
To ensure accessibility, the project subsidises each biodigester by reducing the cost by approximately 50%. Recently, ATEC partnered with PRAN Dairy to distribte the biodigesters to its farmers and BRAC Microfinance to give loans to interested farmers to increase the affordability of the biodigesters to farmers in the region.
At the award ceremony, Shuvavish Bhowmick, the director of ATEC in Bangladesh, extended a warm appreciation to the communities and partners, saying that it is through collaborations that ATEC continues to accelerate clean cooking access to communities that need it most.
“We are honoured to receive this recognition, which belongs to our partners and the communities we serve. Accelerating clean cooking access to the households that need it most remains our core mission.“Shuvavish said.
